A’s birthday party

Went to A’s birthday. T and R were there and T said she’d mainly seen punk bands and alternative, indie music, but she went to see Britney and it was “totally fantastic!” “I’d been told all my life that the mainstream was CRAP, but it wasn’t! The escalators – going up to our seats – even had glittery lights!”

“Britney was great! The dancers were brilliant. It was the best show! You can watch it on Youtube, there are some clips from the show we went to.”

–But what about the lip syncing?

“Who cares? the dancing, the spectacle! It was a bonanza!”

She felt everything she’d been told about mainstream pop etc was rubbish. The crowd featured many women in their mid 20s who were going crazy screaming support for Brittas.

Birthday party was great. Lovely finger-lickin icing gluten-free cake and party grrl got a camcorder from all of us.

Had a long chat with a guest about the legal profession and Atticus from To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee (who helped research In Cold Blood, by Truman Capote.).

“I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It’s when you know you’re licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what. You rarely win, but sometimes you do.”
Atticus Finch
